Planering för videosändningar från ISS

Här kommer lite information om planerade videosändningar från ISS. Som vi kan läsa är de planerade att ske på S-bandet:

ARISS-Europe Chairman Gaston Bertels, ON4WF has drafted an overview of a new “Ham Video” DATV downlink system on S-Band being developed for placement on the International Space Station later this year. The equipment is being developed by Kayser Italia under contract with the European Space Agency using a Canon XF-305 camera provided by NASA. The equipment is currently slated for deployment to the ISS on Japan Space Agency’s HTV-4 in August 2013. HTV is Japan’s H-II Transfer Vehicle for resupplying the International Space Station.

Gaston’s paper provides an overview of both the equipment that is being placed on the ISS as well as discusses ground station requirements.  The ESA contract calls for Kayser Italia to provide five ground stations for placement in Europe that will be “chained” to provide overlapping video reception coverage, with the British Amateur Television Club (BATC) serving as a central server site for receiving video from these ground stations and making it freely available to others via the internet.

It is hoped that amateurs will support other ground station “chains” in other countries as multiple stations are needed to provide up to 15 minutes of video in support of school contacts. Gaston’s paper with block diagram and photographs of key components will be available soon on the AMSAT website (www.amsat.org).

Batterifel på ARISSat-1 (Kedr)

Tyvärr verkar det som om ARISSat-1 (Kedr) har drabbats av ett batterifel. Vi läser följande på ARISSat-1 hemsida:

Due to a failing battery the ARISSat-1 satellite continues to reset during each eclipse period. We are able to follow this situation due to the large number of volunteers around the world that are capturing telemetry and sending it to the server. You can follow the telemetry at http://www.ARISSTLM.org/mobile .

When the satellite Resets due to low voltage, the MET (Mission Elasped Time) resets to zero. Using this fact we are able to see that the satellite is only running for 111 minutes before going into low power mode and eventually resetting after entering eclipse.  Please send in any telemetry data you capture while the satellite is in Emergency mode to arissattlm.org or the the amsat-bb@amsat.org.

* ARISSat-1/KEDR Deployed on August 3 – Signals Received

ARISSat-1/KEDR has been deployed from the ISS during EVA-29 on
Wednesday, August 3 by Cosmonaut/Flight Engineers Sergei Volkov
and Alexander Samokutyaev. First signals have been received
by JR8LWY reporting copy of the telemetry beacon as the satel-
lite passed over Japan.

Full operational capability of ARISSat-1/KEDR is still under
evaluation pending performance evaluation of the UHF antenna.
Please submit your reception signal reports on amsat-bb and via
the mission’s e-mail boxes on http://www.amsat.org.

AMSAT President Barry Baines, WD4ASW, observed, “Welcome to a
new era as AMSAT returns to space with ARISSat-1/KEDR. I encour-
age all hams, SWLs, educators, and experimenters to enjoy the
unique opportunity presented by this mission to learn about ama-
teur radio in space, enhance and improve your station, and hone
your operating skills as you try out all of this satellite’s
features.”

Barry continues, “ARISSat-1/KEDR marks a new type of satellite
which has captured the attention of the national space agencies
around the world for the unique educational opportunity we have
been able to design, launch, and now operate. By designing an
educational mission aligned with NASA’s Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics goals amateur radio operators around
the world can now enjoy a new satellite in orbit.”

ARISSat-1/KEDR Project Manager, Gould Smith, WA4SXM said, “Dozens
of amateur radio volunteers, AMSAT, ARRL, NASA, and Energia have
teamed up for this successful mission to bring you the most unique
and innovative amateur radio satellite mission flying 220 miles
above your QTH at 17,500 mph! Congratulations to all who made
ARISSat-1 successful!”

Continuing, Gould said, “ARRISat-1/KEDR has been developed, built,
and tested by a remarkable team of radio amateurs. As the Project
Manager for ARISSat-1/KEDR these past three years I have had the
opportunity to work with these creative people to get to where we
are now … IN ORBIT!”

ARISSat-1

Satelliten skickades igår  klockan 18.43 utc iväg från ISS. ARISSat-1 har under natten rapporterats sända både röstmeddelanden och telemetri samt SSTV.

Det uppstod lite oklarheter vid ivägsändandet då man upptäckte att UHF antennen saknades eller var skadad.  Mark-kontrollen tog beslutet att släppa iväg den trots antennproblemen.

Ett stort Grattis till ARISSat teamet.

Aktivitet från ARISSat-1

Under morgontimmarna har vi kunnat höra satelliten på både 145.950 Mhz samt 437.550 Mhz.

Den sänder hälsningar på olika språk och dessutom lite telemetri via talsyntes. Det  har även gått ut en SSTV bild men tyvärr i ett läge där signalen var långt ned i bruset. Signalstyrkorna har annars legat mellan S3-S8 så den är klart hörbar.
