The ARISS program is pleased to announce that the amateur radio equipment aboard the International Space Station is now operating in cross-band repeat mode.
We realize that many of you will miss the packetmode
However, cross-band repeat allows further experimentation of the ISS amateur radio system.
The downlink for this operating mode remains the same, so listen for the station on 145.800 MHz.
The new uplink frequency is 437.800 MHz. All frequencies are subject to Doppler shifting.
ARISS is an international educational outreach program with US participation from NASA, AMSAT and the American Radio Relay League.
ARISS offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with
crewmembers on-board the International Space Station.
Teachers, parents and communities experience, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crewmembers on ISS can energize youngsters interest in science, technology, and learning.

AO-40 update
Hi Keith,
unfortunately there are no news to report.. Our command stations are still continuing to try to recover the bird, including during July, but so far without success.
As reported in my P3-E presentation during the AMSAT-UK colloquium,Viktor Kudielka OE1VKW (again) noticed some changes on the Mean Motion of AO-40, which may or may not be related to the battery incident.
There is currently not enough data available and further analysis will be necessary before we can even speculate what might have happened.
We will keep everyone informed, when there is more data available. Perhaps at the AMSAT-NA Symposium..

AO-51 Testad i mode V/S
AO51 V/S in Europe
Just to report that several successful QSOs have taken place this morning in Europe in mode V/S
During the 0856 UTC pass I worked Ib OZ1MY for one of the first EU QSOs in this mode. Also active, amongst others, was Charlie G3WDG who I worked on the 1135 pass.
We share the North American experience with lots of non-amateur QRM on the uplink – sounded like fonepatch with DTMF tones. Of course this is now audible with no PL tone requirement.

The following is the planned schedule for the next week and a half on AO-51. Please remember, we are still it an experimental/checkout phase of the satellite. Events like the software reload last weekend will happen from time to time. The schedule is subject to change. All times are
approximate.
25 Aug 0200 UTC to 26 Aug 0300 UTC
Experimenters Wednesday – Mode V/S FM Repeater Test.
S Band TX (2401.200) will be turned ON in FM voice mode, continuous transmission. The 145.920 VHF receiver (RX3) will be set to FM voice mode. No 67 hz Tone will be required during this test.
As this will be the first time the S Band transmitter has been allowed to run for an extended period, the WOD will be checked after the first pass. If all is well mode V/S will continue for the rest of Experimenters Wednesday.
Digial TXA (435.150) will be OFF except to download data over Command Station. FM TXB (435.300) will be OFF.
At the conclusion of Exp Wed normal FM repeater mode on TXB will return. After completing the download of data from the S Band test the BBS will be opened for an extended window of user operation. This will be at the current low power level of TXA. During this time AO-51 will be active in both FM repeat (145.920 FM up, 67 hz tone / 435.300 FM down at 0.60 watts) and 9k6 BBS (145.860 FM up / 435.150 down FM down at 0.40 watts) for the first time. Please check the Broadcast message on Echo, for a notice when the BBS is open.
