FM Satelliterna portabelt

Hejsan!

Folks

Just returned from 78 degrees north tonight. I managed to work many folks on AO-51, FO-29 and a few on GO-32. I attempted AO-7 a couple of times, but had no luck.

I apologise to the Japanese amateurs listening for me. The schedule I had was not great for working FO-29 into JA, with mutual visibilities beingabout 3am. Locating a viable location for 1 to 2 degrees elevation to the east was not at all good – the area I was in was pretty mountainous, and
access to good locations is difficult and dangerous without being trained in such household items as a high calibre rifle to fend off the polar bears.

It can also be a bit chilly!

As I was there primarily to configure a remote groundstation, this work took priority.

In the end I did have a quick go on HF but it was totally dead.

As for Svalbard itself, I can recommend it – 13 or so passes per polar orbiting LEO each day, an astonishing number of them almost overhead , some outstanding places to eat, and it s duty free.

Operating conditions were not ideal although at night you don t need a torch to see where you re going.

Please, all QSLs direct (I am QTHR).

SSETI launch

SSETI Express – just four weeks left until lift off

The launch date of September 27th and a lift-off time of 06:52:26 UTC now looks pretty certain for the Cosmos 3 rocket carrying SSETI Express with its three cubesat passengers and four other satellites into orbit.

Updated pre-launch keps will be made available in a few days time and there are a number of webpages being developed to enable amateurs to locate SSETI Express, receive and download the telemetry and to forward it to Mission Control for their evaluation. Later in the mission it will also be possible for amateurs to transmit so-called friendly commands to request particular telemetry or thumbnail pictures.

Obviously we also expect to be able to use the receiver part of the onboard 70cms transceiver and the S band transmitter as a single channel FM U/S transponder!.

STELLA Linear Transponder

STELLA Linear Transponder DSP IF, plus LVB Tracker 2 info

Folks

I have put some further information (mostly pics) on line about the auto-notching DSP linear transponder IF I ve developed in conjunction with David G0MRF s RF expertise, presented and demonstrated at the AMSAT-UK Colloquium this last weekend.

After spending the past six months struggling to make time to make this and the LVB Tracker 2 demonstrable projects, life would be quiet. From the extraordinary response I have received it seems that this will not be the case…

The technologies popularised by Gerald Youngblood s SDR-1000, and used extensively by the STELLA device, I am sure will go from strength to strength.
