Information om P3E

Dear friends,

we submit below the final proposal for AMSAT Phase 3E to the Coordination Advisatory Panel. Several suggestions are implemented now. Major changes are in the 5.6 GHz, 24 GHz, and 47 GHz bands.

After careful discussion with Michael, DB6NT, who is our national Microwave Manager in DL, we adopted Graham s proposal to use frequencies in the 2 MHz wide narrow-band segment of the microwave bands. So satellite work and
terrestrial dx will be possible with the same equipment. Thus we expect sort of a synergetic effect , which will attract narrow-band dx enthusiasts to the amateur satellite service, and lead OSCAR amateurs also to terrestrial microwave dx. Additionally this concept could help to protect the important narrow-band segment against other services, and these satellite frequencies could be defended against such threads with the help of dx interested amateurs.

Graham: Could you please contact IARU Region 1 and ask them to agree with this frequency choice?

Hans: Do we have to submit the official coordination form sheet or is this mail sufficient in view of the fact, that this is an AMSAT satellite?

P3E frequency proposal (DL6DBN, 03-10-01) 4th draft
=========================================

First of all, we thank all of you who made their welcomed
comments about the 1st, 2nd and 3rd draft. We hope almost
every good advice became part of this 4th and final draft.
The P5 experimental transponder is still in its design
phase. So these frequencies have to be coordinated later.

Most designers of RF-module for P3E are in the state of
ordering flight crystals. So we appreciate an OK or
necessary changes until Mid October. Thank you!

TBD
This is the P5A experimental coherent transponder.
It will need a fix frequency relation for coherent
mode and appr. 2 MHz bandwidth for ranging mode.
It will be configurable as linear transponder too
with approximately 50 kHz passband width.

Notes
—–
GB = General Beacon
EB = Engineering Beacon
PB = Passband
RUDAK = Digital Multi-Mode Payload

General note: Except for 145 MHz (see below)
frequencies were chosen not to conflict with
any other amateur radio satellite. Several
frequencies reuse those of decayed AO-13 or
unusable on AO-40. The microwave frequencies
above 5.6 GHz were pre-coordinated among
memmbers of the mm-community.

145 MHz note: Frequencies were chosen to
minimize conflicts with popular downlinks
at 145.800 (ISS) and 145.825 MHz and
uplinks at 145.990 (ISS) and 145.975 MHz
(UO-14). Nevertheless the passband covers
almost all PACSAT-uplinks as 145 MHz is
the most popular amateur satellite band.
Experience with AO-13 and PACSATs in the
early 90s showed that the low power signals
of the transponder passband downlink didn t
harm the LEO packet uplinks.

Vusat status 25 aug

Tv mail har kommit frn AMSAT-India angende Vusat:

Hi all,
With the successful testing of Indian and Dutch transponders, things are in good shape. Final integration of the satellite started. Have a look at the updated website http://www.amsatindia.org Likely launch during October 2003. Look for great signals from vusat.

Hi All,
With great pleasure,I wish to inform Amsat-India C0-0rninator OM.Air Cmde V.Subramanian (SUBBI VU2UV) and all others that on Thursday,21.8.2003 @ 16.00 Hrs IST the flight model of the Indian Transponder was sucessfully tested on Air by the Amsat-Technical Committee and Upagrah Amateur Radio Club VU2URC(ISRO Club Station). Congrats to VU2POP, as he was the first person to get through the
transponder.The down-link signal level reported by VU2POP was satisfactory.Sucessful two way link was established on FM,CW and Sidebands.The beacon signal level reported by POP was also satisfactory.
My sincere thanks to all other Bangalore Hams who stood by on the frequency during the testing.After few more planned tests, the transponder will be switched on again in the comming days.The exact timings will be intimated in advance.
