Info about AMSAT-SM

The Swedish Amateur Satellite Group

The history and what we do today

AMSAT-SM is the Swedish group of AMSAT with aprox 300 members. It was founded 1982 and at peek year, during Oscar-40 satellite, we had over 500 paying members.

From 2010 we started to have problem with volunteers for the committee and we decided to shutdown the organisation AMSAT-SM in 2020 and continued as an open group with the same name.

Today we are spreading information about amateur radio satellites mainly via the web page and X (Twitter). We are three radio amateurs (Håkan SM7WSJ, Lars SM0TGU and Inge SM4JLX) keeping AMSAT-SM alive with no other interest that it should be fun. The web page is sponsored by Lars SM0TGU and the only yearly cost we have is for the domain.

Year 2022 we celebrated 40 years!

We are running AMSAT-SM in an agile style (like software development in Scrum or KanBan) without annual meetings. The steering group are following guidelines that was original decided in March 2020.

Please join and support AMSAT-SM – membership is open to anyone and free! Donations are most welcome!
